OWB refurbished, tuned up and ready to burn
for years to come.

November 27, 2009 Today winds are out of the south, 10-15 mph.

After we saw the old rusty smoker hauled away on a flatbed truck with a similar rusty finish in the Spring of '09, we thought we were done with the smoke and stink once and for all. We were so happy. My wife even made the homeowner some jam, wrote them a thank you note. (She was taught to respect her neighbors, like a good Minnesotan.) CLEAN AIR. We couldn't get enough of it that summer, and we swore we'd NEVER take it for granted again. We discussed removing this web site and taking down our yard signs.

Then on October 1, 2009, after 5 1/2 months spent almost exclusively outdoors on our property, the skies once again filled with smoke. What we thought was the OWB taking a well deserved trip to the junkyard turned out to be a repaint job and reinstall. It's refurbished and ready to burn NON-STOP and spew emissions for another ten to twenty years.

The week before Halloween, 2009 was full of smoke non-stop. My wife decided to try and handle it herself rather than complain to the City. She wrote a letter to the wife of the outdoor wood boiler owner, to ask for her help in this. My wife explained how the smoke was making her asthma really bad; how bad it smelled on our property, and begged them to stop so we could use our property. She also explained how our neighbors feel the same way, and some of them have real health problems, including a neighbor with emphysema.

This video was taken in late November, about a month after she wrote the letter.
